About BlestEarth

Why “blest” earth? Many writers recognize that Earth is infused with matter and energy from the Big Bang. Every tree, rock, human, bird, every being on planet Earth – we are all 13.7 billion years in the making! Thomas Berry asserts that the universe itself is ‘the primordial sacred community’, and that we must return to a view of all creation as sacred. Whether we believe in a Creator or not, humanity must recapture the understanding of a deeply-interconnected reality in order to halt our vast misuse of Earth’s resources, which has deeply impacted peoples, ecosystems, animals, and weather patterns.
At BlestEarth, glimpses of beauty, inspirational songs, and stories will recapture the understanding of Earth as sacred. Breathing exercises and guided meditations will demonstrate that calm and clarity are but a breath away. Blogs will address the climate crisis. Signs of hope will provide good news of the progress toward wholeness. Individual voices will speak of journeys guided by love and connection.
Our Indigenous brothers and sisters have long lived with the knowledge that all creatures must live in harmony with one another and all of nature. Their wisdom, too, is being re-discovered and adapted in a serious manner as a way to live, to honor and protect, and to live with gratitude for the inter-connected web of existence.
And you, when you think of your existence on planet Earth as 13.7 billion years in the making, what impact does that have on your particular purpose here? What unique gifts and skills do you have, what passions captivate your mind and imagination?
We hope your mind and heart will be captivated by BlestEarth.

About Allis Druffel, IHM:
Allis is a member of the Immaculate Heart Community, a lay group of men and women committed to “transformative love …that impels work for justice, peace and the healing of the earth.” She serves as chair of the IHC  Commission on the Environment.  For 15 years, she served as Southern California Director for  California Interfaith Power & Light, which provides training and resources to the California faith community on sustainable living practices. One of her favorite foci is advocating for strong regulatory policy that increases renewable energy, decreases humanity’s reliance on polluting fossil fuels, and increases clean sector workforce development and job placement for people and communities that have long faced structural racism. Allis is also a trained classical singer, songwriter, and combines music with environmental themes reflecting the “signs of the times.”
Allis was lucky to grow up in the 1970’s and 80’s hiking, running, and walking in the hillsides of Pasadena. She and her friends often foraged for food (berries, kumquats, plums, oranges) after school. A favorite memory is being chased out of a neighbor’s front yard (after climbing their fence) to steal pomegranates off their tree. She is a wanna-be vegetarian and is always open to preparing delicious, organic based recipes, so if you have any in mind, let her know.
